Community Guidelines

Welcome to Frankli! Our goal is to create a transparent, productive and safe platform. When you create an account with us, you are agreeing to follow our community guidelines and terms of use. Please keep these in mind, otherwise your content and account could be deleted, and we might have to resort to other restrictive measures. 

 

Photo and Video Sharing
 

When you create a post on Frankli, you own your content and you give us the right to share your content on our platform. You can only share content that you have the right to share, meaning that the copyright, intellectual property, and privacy of others has to be respected and protected.  Sharing copyrighted content, such as, images, photos, videos, and music that you do not have the right to share is not allowed.  
 

Nudity and sexually explicit content
 

We allow nudity and sexually explicit content to be shared on Frankli, however this is only okay if this content is approved for sharing by the people who appear in it. Moreover, such content must be marked as sensitive content within the app. Sharing content that contains underage nudity is never allowed. For safety reasons, we may remove content that shows nude or partially-nude children, as this content, even if not posted with bad intentions, can be used by others in a harmful way and due to legal obligations. 
 

Potentially Harmful content
 

Mental health is important to us, therefore, we ask you to not post content that may encourage people to embrace suicide, eating disorders, or self-injury.  Content that identifies victims or survivors of suicide, eating disorders, and self-injury is also not allowed when the content aims at bullying, mocking, or attacking the victims or survivors.  If this content is shared for the purposes of educating, preventing, or raising awareness, then the content may be allowed, however, you should label it with a warning. Sharing content that depicts graphic images for sadistic pleasure or glorifies abuse is prohibited.

 

Interactions with others on the platform

 

When you use Frankli, you may not monetarily or artificially collect likes, comments, followers, and shares. We ask you to not post repetitive comments or content, and repeatedly contact others on the platform for commercial reasons, if they have not agreed to that.  We do not want content that engages in, promotes, encourages, facilitates, offers, and solicits the trade of fake and misleading user reviews or ratings on our platform.

We want to foster an authentic and transparent community, so we expect you to provide us with accurate and up to date information, as well as use your account in a truthful way by not impersonating others and creating accounts for the sake of misleading others and violating our community guidelines and terms of use. 

 

Fake news

 

Frankli is a platform where content is verifiably real. We have a zero tolerance policy for fake news. Therefore, please make sure that the content you post is accurate and true.  Misinformation that initiates and causes hate, discrimination, psychological harm, physical health harm, confusion and misleads people about election, civic processes and institutions, and attacks a specific person or a protected group should not be posted. We also do not tolerate content that encourages violence or denies a violent or tragic event occurrence, distorts the truth of events and causes significant harm to the people concerned in the posted content. We encourage users to report items that may be misleading or otherwise promoting false information so that the Frankli team can moderate content and further improve our content moderation processes.

 

Prohibition of any unlawful acts
 

Frankli aims to be a safe environment for authentic content and engagement. We ask you to always follow the law.  We have no tolerance for illegal acts such as the support or praise of terrorism, organised crime, and extremist and hate groups. Serious and credible threats of harm to public and personal safety, which include threats of physical harm, theft, and vandalism are prohibited. We understand that Frankli is a useful platform for journalists due to the nature of the technology it is built on, therefore, we will allow sensitive content that is posted in a journalistic context to spread awareness and factual information, however the main purpose of this content must be to inform the public and not to instigate, solicit and promote terrorism, organised crime, or hate groups.

Content that has a purpose of trading, co-ordinating the trade of, donating, gifting, or asking for non-medical drugs, as well as content that coordinates or promotes the use of non-medical drugs should not be posted. Frankli also prohibits the sale of live animals between private individuals, licensed sellers with physical stores may be allowed to do so. The coordination of  poaching or selling of endangered species or their parts is strictly prohibited. You are responsible for following the law when offering to sell or buy other regulated goods. Users promoting online gambling, online real money games of skill or online lotteries must request permission from Frankli before engaging in any online activity on the platform.

Sharing sexual content which involves minors and threatening to share content of an intimate or sexual nature without consent is never okay.

No Bullying

Frankli aims to establish a diverse and safe community. Content that contains credible threats, hate speech, targets private individuals to degrade, disturb, or shame them, personal information meant to blackmail or harass someone, and repeated unwanted messages must not be posted. People who are of interest to the public, due to their profession or activities can be posted about but please ensure this content is still permissible by law and is not solely posted for bullying such people. Encouraging or engaging in violence or an attack on someone based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disabilities, immigration status, or diseases is never allowed. Frankli might allow posts related to bullying and hate speech, in the cases where the post is shared with a different intent such as for criticism or raising awareness; the intent of the post must be made clear.

Promoted or Sponsored Content
 

When posting content that is sponsored or promoted, you must make this known. Please label the post as containing sponsored or promoted content.

 

Help us in following community guidelines
 

If you come across content that could potentially violate our guidelines, please report this content to us by using our reporting system. When completing the report, please try to provide us with as much information as possible, such as links, usernames, and descriptions of the content, so we can find and review it swiftly. We will remove content which violates our community guidelines.  Do not pursue other users of Frankli that have posted the content that violates our community guidelines by posting about them and drawing attention to the situation as this may qualify as harassment. If you find content that you disapprove of but does not violate our community guidelines, do not report the content; if multiple reports are filed from the same user about content that does not actually violate the community guidelines, we may disable the account of that user.

Avoiding harm

 

We’re happy that you decided to use our Site. However, we don’t want the use of our Site to cause harm.  When you use our Site, you agree that you will not do anything which would cause harm to the rights or interests of OpenOrigins or another person.  Examples of things that would cause harm include:
 

• using the Site for any unlawful purpose or for the promotion of illegal activities;

• providing false or inaccurate information when asked to update your account information or otherwise in the course of your use of the Site;

• interfering or attempt to interfere with the proper functioning of the Site;

• take any action that might impose an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our servers or network infrastructure; or

• failing to take care of your own system security, such that you create a risk that the Site may be affected by viruses or other malicious code.
   

When required by law, Frankli may reach out or cooperate with law enforcement, including when we believe that there’s a real risk of physical harm or threat to public safety. Whenever possible, we will notify the community of such cooperation since transparency works both ways.
